Ingredients

- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 onion, minced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- salt
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup canned tomato sauce (i use hunt's)
- 1/2 cup low sodium chicken broth
- 2 teaspoons cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon light brown sugar
- 8 taco shells
Recipe
- 1 heat the oil in a medium skillet over medium heat until simmering.
- 2 add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- 3 stir in the garlic, spices, and 1 teaspoon salt.
- 4 cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- 5 stir in the ground beef.
- 6 cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, about 5 minutes.
- 7 stir in the tomato sauce, broth, vinegar, and sugar.
- 8 simmer until thickened, about 10 minutes.
- 9 season with salt to taste.
- 10 divide the filling evenly among taco shells and serve, passing any desired accompaniments separately.
