tofu and ground lamb with peas

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onion (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root
  • 1 pound ground lamb
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 (10 ounce) package frozen peas
  • 1 (1 pound) package soft tofu, drained and cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 3 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground white pepper

  • heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. cook and stir green onion, garlic, and ginger in hot oil until fragrant, about 1 minute. crumble ground lamb into skillet, breaking it into small pieces with the back of a wooden spoon as you stir. pour soy sauce over the lamb mixture; cook and stir until the lamb is completely browned, 5 to 7 minutes. stir peas into the lamb mixture; cook and stir until the peas are softened, 3 to 5 minutes. fold tofu into the lamb mixture; cook until the tofu is hot, about 3 minutes.
  • whisk water, oyster sauce, cornstarch, salt, and white pepper together in a bowl; stir gently into the lamb and tofu mixture. cook until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
